Hi, my name is Barry R Bowen and I began using AutoCAD software, believe it or not, starting with Release 1.2 way back in May of 1983.  After many years of drafting manually on the board and wishing there was a better way, AutoCAD came on the scene. At that time, however,  it was not received well in the AEC industry and actually was much slower to use than to draw by hand. Since I was looking for a faster way of drafting I quickly embraced this new technology. At first it was difficult and cumbersome to use, but with the release of the AutoLISP programming language, built right inside of AutoCAD, things began to change. Now instead of me doing all the work I wanted AutoCAD to do the work for me and AutoLISP gave me that opportunity.
